Every deck restoration quote comes down to how much work your deck needs. Here is what we look at when you send photos.
What we check
- Surface condition. A dull deck may only need a clean and re-oil. Grey, splintered timber needs sanding first.
- Old varnish. Stripping a peeling film finish takes much longer than sanding bare grey timber.
- Timber species. Dense hardwoods like chengal and ipe are slower to sand than balau or merbau.
- Boards and joists. How many boards are rotten or split, and whether the frame underneath is sound.
- Size and access. Deck area, and whether there is a lift, stairs or a landed walk-up.
Restoration vs new deck
If the frame is sound, restoring the deck you have is usually much less work than a new deck. We will tell you honestly which one your deck needs.
