Three ways to fix a tired balcony deck

Most balcony decks in Singapore are 40–120 sq ft of timber or composite laid on runners over the concrete. Depending on condition, you have three options:

  1. Refinish. Sand and re-oil the existing timber. Best value when boards are sound.
  2. Repair. Replace damaged boards and rotten battens, then refinish.
  3. Replace. Lift the old deck and re-lay in new timber or composite. Composite needs the least upkeep afterwards.

Balcony rules to know

Condo balconies are common property on the outside, so check with your MCST about colour or material changes and permitted work hours. Decking must not block the balcony floor trap. We leave removable access panels over drains so you can clear them.

Not sure which option you need?

Send us photos of the balcony, including one close-up of the worst boards. We will tell you whether a refinish, a repair or a re-lay makes sense and send you a quote.

How it works

Our process

  1. Send photos

WhatsApp 3–5 photos of the deck, one close-up of the worst area and the rough size.

  2. Get a fixed quote

We reply with a quote, usually the same day, and visit first if the job needs it.

  3. Repair day

Most balcony jobs take 1–2 days. We mask walls, glass and railings and vacuum the dust as we sand.

  4. Cure & handover

Oil needs 24–48 hours before heavy use. You get care notes for your timber or composite.

Balcony deck repair: FAQ

How do I get a quote for my balcony deck?

WhatsApp photos of the whole balcony, a close-up of the damage and the rough length and width. We reply with a quote, usually the same day.

Can I put decking on an HDB balcony?

Yes, raised decking on runners is common in HDB flats. It must not block the floor trap, and it should not be fixed into the waterproofing layer.

Timber or composite for a balcony?

Timber looks and feels warmer but needs re-oiling every 6–12 months. Composite needs only washing, but gets hotter in direct afternoon sun. For west-facing balconies we usually suggest a lighter composite colour.

Do you need to drill into my balcony floor?

No. We lay aluminium runners on adjustable pads or rubber shims so the waterproofing is not damaged.

Not sure if your deck needs a repair or a full replacement?

Send us photos on WhatsApp. We will tell you honestly whether a sand-and-oil, a few new boards, or a full re-lay makes sense, and send you a quote.
